Cleaning firms perform better

International service company Serco is using a fleet of robots to carry out day-to-day tasks on its support service contract at the new Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Scotland. The robots are carrying clinical waste and cleaning operating theatres as well as delivering food and dispensing drugs.

MRSA infections cut

A Glasgow hospital managed to reduce the number of new MRSA infections on its wards by 27 per cent - simply by recruiting an extra cleaner. The move also saved the hospital over €60,000, it was revealed at the recent national conference of the Association of Healthcare Cleaning Professionals in the UK.
