An Austrian company has developed a new surface upon which bacteria are said to be unable to breed and grow.

And the firm - Amistec, situated in Kössen in the Tyrol - claims the surface could revolutionise the development of hospital hygiene.

A window cleaner was stuck on the 72nd floor of the Shard in London - Europe's tallest building - in windy conditions yesterday.

London Fire Brigade was called after reports of a "window cleaner's cradle in a precarious position", but engineers soon made the cradle safe.
