Ready for the next adventure

Rob den Hertog, project manager for the ISSA/Interclean series of exhibitions, looks ahead to the first ISSA/Interclean Istanbul next week.

The 25th ISSA/Interclean Amsterdam show in May was for four days the focal point in the industry - manufacturers, distributors, end users, press, associations - all joined to exchange ideas, views and do business. It was four days of positive vibes in the industry. The atmosphere was vibrant and we have never had such good responses from both exhibitors and visitors.

Our business monitor indicates that the business discussed during the event was worth about 163 million euros. The figure itself does not say so much but compared to two years ago growth was 20 per cent. You can best judge yourself if it also reflects your experience and business enquiries.

In our surveys amongst visitors and exhibitors after the Amsterdam show we always ask questions like what people think can be improved for the next shows or what kind of products and brands were missing. We are pleased with all suggestions as to what we can improve for the next editions.

We also request some input from our visitors and exhibitors on interesting region(s) to expand their business to. In the past six years Turkey has always been one of the highest ranked regions according to this research. This high level of interest also reflects the economic growth and high potential for the cleaning industry in this region according to the World Bank.

This vibrant economy, together with the potential of the domestic market, and your interest was crucial in our decision to introduce a new show, ISSA/Interclean Istanbul.

Amsterdam RAI, ISSA and our local partner NTSR, together with the local Thesiad cleaning industry association, have worked closely together to offer the region the most complete professional cleaning overview at this new exhibition, which takes place next week.

Furthermore ISSA and Teshiad will present an impressive two-day conference/seminar program reflecting many hot topics for the cleaning industry and in particular for the region.

The interest and enthusiasm for our first ever ISSA/Interclean Istanbul (September 25-27) exceeded our expectations - over 100 major brands are exhibiting. Considering this is a new venture, we're already very satisfied. Encouraging is the participation from European and other overseas exhibitors, covering 45 per cent of the floor space.

Visitor pre-registration show already 30 per cent Middle Eastern and African registrations, 35 per cent Turkish and the other 35 per cent are Europeans or from other parts of the world from a total of over 80 countries.

Working with the Turkish people was a big pleasure, we took plenty of time to learn about each other and our customs - during the course of preparation our cultures started to blend and the result can be seen during the show.

I hope we will meet in Istanbul?
