15th of September 2010Cleaning industry association ISSA, which has its headquarters in the USA, has opened online voting for the ISSA Innovation Awards Program. Cleaning industry professionals have until September 30 to make their choices.
The programme this year features over 40 products and services. There are five categories – Chemicals; Paper/Plastics;
MRSA infections cut
15th of September 2010A Glasgow hospital managed to reduce the number of new MRSA infections on its wards by 27 per cent - simply by recruiting an extra cleaner. The move also saved the hospital over €60,000, it was revealed at the recent national conference of the Association of Healthcare Cleaning Professionals in the UK.

15th of September 2010The winner of the 2009/2010 Building Cleanability Awards (BCA) which took place in the UK recently was Birmingham Metropolitan College. It beat off other short-listed entries to the prize, which recognises buildings effectively supporting day-to-day cleaning.

15th of June 2010The Travelator Cleaner from Baudoin Wash-Systems was declared the best innovation for the professional cleaning industry at the ISSA/INTERCLEAN exhibition in Amsterdam. 15th of June 2010After holding strike action for nine weeks, cleaner members of the FNV Bondgenoten trade union in the Netherlands have reached a settlement - winning the pay increases and education allowances they were campaigning for.
The settlement consists of a 3.5 per cent pay increase over two years, which is 1.5 per cent more than the general wage
