Three quarters of Singapore workers approve of cobots: study

Around 75 per cent of office workers in Singapore want to see greater transparency regarding cleanliness levels, according to a study.

And the same percentage believe robots to be an ideal complement to cleaners in helping to keep their workspace safe.

According to the Workplace Smart Cleanliness Study, indoor air quality was a concern for 70 per cent of respondents while around 65 per cent were particularly focused on cleaning frequency. A total of 61 per cent said they were worried about virus transmission risks with 64 per cent claiming to be somewhat or very concerned about contracting Covid-19 at work.

The study was conducted by consumer research firm Milieu Insight in collaboration with SoftBank Robotics and Infogrid.

"The research sheds some light on the concern levels of Singaporean workers as many are now heading back to the office," said Stephen Tracy, chief operating officer at Milieu Insight.

"There's an enormous opportunity in applying data and robotics to address these concerns. And the study shows that support is high for integrating things like more data and transparency around office cleaning practices, as well as the integration of robotics such as robo-vacuums.''

"These automation tools can improve the staff experience and deliver peace of mind to employers and employees concerned with the risks of transmission of airborne viruses at the office," said SoftBank Robotics' chief business officer Kenichi Yoshida.
