Kärcher is this week proud to present its new K-Mop 46 - an upright scrubber dryer described as being as manoeuvrable as a mop.

But the company has been less forthcoming about the scaled-down chocolate version which sits quietly on the corner of its reception counter. "Oh, that," said communications manager Linda Schroedter evasively.

"We occasionally make chocolate models to celebrate our new machines, but they are very much a limited edition."

The actual K-Mop 46 has a number of impressive features. ‘It is particularly easy to manoeuvre and its low profile allows it to clean beneath desks," said Schroedter. "It is also intuitive to use and has a very powerful suction - elements that we found lacking in some of our competitors' products."

The height-adjustable handle enables shorter people to keep their hand weight low by adjusting the working angle, while taller users can adapt it to their stride length. And the plastic components are made from 28 per cent recycled material.

The K-Mop 46, which has a four-litre fresh water tank and a 46 cm working width, is particularly suitable for use in offices and small retail units, says Schroedter. As for the chocolate version, that's simply designed to sit on counters, look attractive - and taste delicious.
