Cleanable buildings

15th of September 2010

The winner of the 2009/2010 Building Cleanability Awards (BCA) which took place in the UK recently was Birmingham Metropolitan College. It beat off other short-listed entries to the prize, which recognises buildings effectively supporting day-to-day cleaning.

The scheme is open to all buildings in the UK and Ireland with an internal floor area of over 5,000 square metres. It was conceived by the Worshipful Company of Environmental Cleaners to highlight the relationship between building design and cleanability.

Other national category winners were: Medway Police HQ, Gillingham; West Ham bus garage, London; Regents Place, London; G-Casino, Sheffield; Cheshire and Merseyside NHS treatment centre, Runcorn; Highcross Centre, Leicester and Kings Place, London.
