HACCP International is an accredited certification body that operates a specific certification scheme to endorse equipment, chemicals, materials and services used by the food industry.
It says the selection of poorly designed or unhygienic cleaning equipment and materials is a risk to one of the most important HACCP prerequisite controls, with some potentially very serious and credible outcomes including cross contamination or physical contamination of food from the equipment itself.
Products submitted for certification are evaluated by an expert team of food scientists and technologists who assess materials and specifications; toxicity; contamination risks; ease of cleaning; operating instructions; consequences of error in use or misuse; batch and process controls; food safety claims; packaging and labelling; positive contribution to food safety.
