Winner of hand washing competition could win money for primary school

UK children are being invited to come up with creative ideas to promote hand hygiene in a nationwide competition.

And digital health company Medicspot will award cash prizes to the winner's school to be spent on essential educational supplies.

Primary school children aged five to 11 are being asked to come up with creative ways of encouraging hand washing by making a poster, filming a video, recording a song or staging a science experiment.

According to medical director at Medicspot Dr Johnson D'souza: "We designed this challenge for children to complete at home to help promote frequent handwashing and help prevent the spread of coronavirus. It has never been more important to practise proper handwashing."

Each entry should include key hand washing facts and advice such as the importance of washing the hands for at least 20 seconds and doing so frequently throughout the day. Entries should also mention the need for using warm water and soap, plus the role played by hand sanitiser in situations where no soap or water is available.

The winning entry will receive £500 for their primary school to spend on items such as books, software and art supplies. Ten runners-up will receive £100 for their schools and every entrant will be given a downloadable certificate.

Medicspot is a health company working to protect NHS workers from exposure to Covid-19 with contact-free examination. The competition closes on June 30 and winners will be announced on July 15.
