V Festival teams up with luxury toilet provider

Organisers of this year's V Festival teamed up with a luxury toilet provider to provide music-lovers with better loos - at a price.

Visitors to last weekend's festival in Chelmsford, UK were invited to pay £20 (€22) per day or £35 (€38.5) for both days for access to a VIPee washroom.

These toilets are said to offer higher levels of hygiene and more facilities than a typical stadium washrooms.

"The thought of lining up in a huge queue at a music festival only to be met by a dirty and smelly mess is something that everyone would ideally avoid," said a VIPee spokesperson.

"With the number of people that use the Portaloos over the weekend, there is always a possibility that the cleanliness of the toilets will not be to a high standard."

The luxury toilet market has been steadily growing as an increasing number of festival-goers are prepared to complain about the facilities at such events. Rival company When Nature Calls will be supplying toilets at a number of other UK events including Bestival in Dorset next month.

A weekend pass costs £32.50 (€36) and customers who purchase an entry wristband will have access to salon hair dryers, hair straighteners and make-up zones.

And tickets from premium toilet provider The Seat Of Luxury at this year's Reading Festival from August 25-27 have already sold out as festival-goers clamour to earn a place in the high-tech, fully-staffed loos that use fresh water vacuum technology to supply hot running water.
