Urinal tap aims to promote men's hand hygiene

Men have long been criticised for their lack of hand hygiene but now they have no excuse for not washing their hands after a visit to the bathroom. A Latvian designer has designed urinal that incorporates a built-in tap.

The STAND tap is hands-free and activated by sensors - however opinion is still divided as to whether it is hygienic to wash one's hands in a urinal.

Designer Kaspars Jursons explained: "If you did not have the habit of washing your hands after you go to the bathroom before, you will definitely be reminded now, when you are faced with a tap right at the urinal."

The units are now in production and have already sold to customers in Norway, Germany, Russia, Poland and Latvia.
