RPC bpi recycled products acquires PLASgran

Polythene film recycler RPC bpi recycled products in the UK has acquired leading recycler of rigid plastics, PLASgran.

The acquisition, it says, marks a major step in its ongoing commitment to work towards a world where nothing goes to waste.

PLASgran recycles nearly 50,000 tonnes of rigid plastics while RPC bpi recycled products recycles over 120,000 tonnes of used plastic a year. Together the companies will serve the entire European market.

Gerry McGarry, managing director of RPC bpi recycled products explained: "With PLASgran joining our RPC bpi recycled products group, we are now clearly the largest plastics recycler in the UK and one of the largest in Europe.

"There is a huge demand for increased UK and European plastics recycling for both environmental and commercial reasons. Many major brands and retailers, for example, are quite rightly demanding their packaging is produced and manufactured from genuine recycled used plastics."

Mark Roberts, managing director of PLASgran added: "We are both respected and well-established recyclers in our markets: RPC bpi recycled products focuses on plastic films, whilst we have developed a major presence in the recycling of rigid plastics with expertise in creating our own recyclate blends."
