Public expects touch-free hand hygiene, suggests survey

The majority of people using washrooms in public spaces now want to see touch-free dispensers for hand sanitiser, says a recent survey carried out by Rubbermaid Commercial Products (RCP).

Conducted during the summer of 2020 as businesses began to reopen after lockdown, RCP's research discovered 93 per cent of people prefer to use no-touch hand sanitiser dispensers.

Alcohol-based hand sanitise is preferred by 75 per cent of respondents while the remaining 25 per cent would rather use alcohol-free.

The research also found that 72 per cent would avoid using hand sanitiser if it looked unclean or unhygienic. And 53 per cent expect to see hand hygiene provisions placed throughout a venue.
