Mitie commits to electric vehicle fleet

UK facilities management company Mitiehas committed to transitioning its fleet of 5,300 vehicles to electric by 2030. This is in addition to its commitment to ensure 20 percent of its small van and car fleet is electric prior to the end of 2020.

The company has signed up to EV100, a global initiative by international non-profit The Climate Group, which brings together companies committed to accelerating the transition to electric vehicles, to make electric transport the ‘new normal' by 2030.

By the end of 2020 Mitie will also have installed 800 new charging points at both its offices and client locations, as well as employee's homes.

Simon King, fleet and procurement director cmmented: "We are incredibly proud to be leading the way in transitioning our fleet to electric vehicles. We want to encourage more companies to follow suit, which is why supporting initiatives such as EV100 are increasingly important.

"We are keen to support likeminded companies who also want to reap the same rewards and limit their impact on climate change."
