Kimberly-Clark promotes Global Handwashing Day on Twitter

Kimberly-Clark Professional is celebrating Global Handwashing Day next Monday - October 15 - with a give-away of Healthy Workplace Project gift boxes on Twitter.

Launched in 2008, and now an annual event in its fifth year, Global Handwashing Day is designed to highlight the importance of handwashing with soap as the most effective and inexpensive way to prevent diarrheal and acute respiratory infections, which take the lives of millions of children in developing countries every year.

Experts say that turning handwashing with soap before eating and after using the toilet into an ingrained habit could save more lives than any single vaccine or medical intervention, cutting deaths from diarrhoea by almost half and deaths from acute respiratory infections by one-quarter.

To mark the day Kimberly-Clark Professional says it will be offering its Twitter followers the opportunity to win one of several Healthy Workplace Project gift boxes because the project is based on the same philosophy - namely that good hand hygiene can make a dramatic difference to the wellbeing and happiness of individuals.
