The Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC), a division of US-headquartered cleaning association ISSA, has launched the GBAC STAR facility accreditation programme on cleaning, disinfection, and infectious disease prevention.

The programme establishes requirements to assist facilities with work practices, protocols, procedures, and systems to control risks associated with infectious agents, such as the virus responsible for COVID-19.

Suitable for facilities including offices, restaurants, hotels, airports, conference centres, stadiums and other public venues GBAC STAR is said to assess a facility's preparedness and provides staff with training for biorisk prevention and containment. It also aims to establish a framework for communication and awareness of best practice.
