Demand for chemical-free cleaning spearheads trend for steam

A growing desire to switch to sustainable, chemical-free cleaning solutions has led to an upsurge in the use of steam cleaning machines, according to reports.

Demand for quick-fix solutions in restaurants, hotels, food stations and other commercial environments is said to be contributing to the growth in the market for upright steam cleaners, which are proving to be particularly popular in the US and Europe.

And an increasing number of householders are using steam cleaners to achieve a hygienic and chemical-free clean of floors, walls kitchens and carpets.

A paper from ResearchAndMarkets.com entitled The Steam Cleaners Market - Global Outlook and Forecast 2019-2024 has predicted a six per cent growth in the steam cleaning market between 2018 and 2024.

A desire by commercial enterprises and householders to use fewer harmful chemicals in cleaning and to reduce the presence of such substances in runoff water has been a major factor for growth, according to the report. And a boom in the construction, hospitality, commercial, and retail industries plus the growing adoption of energy-efficient practices have been other reasons for the industry boom.

"Residential and commercial end-users in developed countries as well as in a few emerging economies are increasingly focusing on adopting sustainable technologies," claims the report.

North America made up the largest market for steam cleaners in 2018 and accounted for a 36 per cent share. However, the Asia Pacific region is expected to emerge as the fastest market during the forecast period.
