Cleaners find nuns stuck in Rome lift for three nights

A cleaner in Rome was surprised to find two nuns stuck in a lift when she arrived for work recently. And they were certainly happy to see her - they had been in there for three nights!

The two women were visiting the Italian capital from their home countries of Ireland and New Zealand when they got stuck. It was Friday afternoon and the nuns had cried out for help when they realised they were in trouble. But everyone had left the Marist Sister's convent for the weekend.

It was only when the cleaner arrived on Monday morning that the alarm was raised - the women had not eaten or drunk anything all weekend.

When the poor nuns were freed, they did admit they had been praying for rescue all weekend.
