British Airways under fire for bad cleanliness standards

British Airways is facing severe criticism for the cleanliness of its planes. London gallery owner Michael Hoppen has been featured in The Times after accusing the carrier of leaving its planes in a filthy state.

Hoppen said he has started using other long-haul airlines after experiencing dirty tables, sticky seats and blankets covered in stains. His comments come days after it emerged a BA flight from London Heathow to Ghana was grounded when the cabin crew refused to fly following an outbreak of bedbugs.

In a statement British Airways said:"We place huge importance on the cleanliness of our aircraft and wherever they are in the world they are cleaned after every flight.

"We have recently introduced a team of our own managers to work alongside our cleaners at Heathrow to carry out increased inspections."
