Amsterdam Innovation Award 2018 shortlist announced

The jury of the 12th edition of Interclean Amsterdam Innovation Award has announced its shortlist of nominees - choosing 12 entries from across four categories.

This year's awards has seen the number of categories grow from three to four, adapting to the changing nature of innovation in the professional cleaning and hygiene industry. This means there are three shortlisted nominees in each category: Management & Mobility Solutions/E-Cleaning; Equipment; Machines; and Related Products/Services.

The overall winner of the Amsterdam Innovation Award - and the four category winners - will be announced at a ceremony during Interclean Amsterdam 2018 on Tuesday May 15. Visitors to the show are able to vote for the Visitor's Choice prize via www.intercleanshow.com.

Shortlisted nominees by category

In the Management & Mobility Solutions/E-Cleaning category, shortlisted entries are ADLATUS Robotics with its ADLATUS Service Station for Cleaning Robots, Diversey for IntelliLinen, and INPACS for its Orbita Dashboard.

The Equipment category features Diversey for its MoonBeam3 UVC Disinfection System, SYR for the Powr-Mop Lite, and Vermop Salmon for its Vermop System ONe.

Shortlisted for the Machines category are Kärcher for its KIRA B 50, Unger Germany for the HydroPower RO, and Wetrok for its Wetrok Automatic Marvin.

In the Related Products/Services category, the featured nominees are Dityspray for Dityspray, Tork for its Tork PaperCircle, and Werner & Mertz Professional for the green-Effective Performance Calculator

"We must congratulate all our final nominees for this year's award, and also everyone who submitted an entry," said Michelle Marshall, chairman of the Amsterdam Innovation Award jury and editor of ECJ. "I know I speak on behalf of all the judges when I say we had many interesting products to read about!"

"What was particularly interesting was the broad spread of different developments now being brought to all segments of the market," continued Michelle. "Yes, there were a number of new ‘smart' solutions using latest IoT technology; however, there were also notable new tools tackling the day-to-day needs of the cleaning operative at ground roots level."

"Year after year, we can observe that cleaning solutions providers are becoming more focused on meeting the needs of the workforce and building users too," concluded Marshall. "This enhances the daily operation of the cleaning team, and consequently the ‘experience' of the end customer within that particular site."

Also on the jury are Pierre Deschamps, editor of Batiment Entretien magazine based in France; Dick van Zomeren, industry expert and editor of Service Management magazine in the Netherlands; Rob Geissler, publisher of Sanitary Maintenance and Facility Cleaning Decisions in the US; Ton van der Riet, managing director of Senzora in the Netherlands; Reinhard Knittler, publisher of Reinigungs Markt magazine in Germany; Cor van der Velden, chief expert at Skills Netherlands; and Antonio Borreda, director of Revista Limpiezas in Spain.

Innovation on display

The shortlisted products will be on display throughout Interclean Amsterdam 2018 in the InnovationLAB at hall 8.

"We are excited to once again share the most innovative products and solutions with visitors to our InnovationLAB, said Rob den Hertog, director of professional cleaning & hygiene at Interclean Amsterdam. "Innovation is what drives the professional cleaning and hygiene industry forward, and has always been a vital element of Interclean. We look forward to seeing which nominee emerges as the winner of this year's Amsterdam Innovation award."
