A.I.S.E. Activity & Sustainability Report highlights sector's crucial role

The new A.I.S.E. (International Association for Soaps, Detergents and Maintenance Products) Activity & Sustainability Report highlights the critical role the sector plays in enabling modern society. It also reaffirms the organisation's commitment to being a true partner in the successful implementation of the European Green Deal.

A.I.S.E remains committed to having legislation for its products that is based on robust scientific principles and evidence-based data. It is also focused on the Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability (CSS) and the Circular Economy Action Plan (CEAP).

Through its Charter for Sustainable Cleaning the organisation has long been involved with sustainability and areas covered in the latest report include:

• The latest KPIs for the Charter for Sustainable Cleaning?as well as the first set of KPIs for the voluntary plastic packaging initiative, showing measurable contributions to the EU's goal to be carbon neutral by 2050. This highlights 39 per cent less CO2 emissions (per tonne of production) compared to 2006; and 39 per cent less energy use per tonne of production compared to 2006

• Regulatory priorities working for a more coherent and relevant framework?for the household and professional sector, notably through work on the Detergents Regulation, CLP, REACH and BPR, and the Circular Economy Action Plan

• The voluntary initiatives and industry guidance that promote the safe and sustainable use of products by end users, and the scientific research that A.I.S.E. undertakes to support regulation based on robust scientific principles and data.
