Peartree Cleaning Services has won an International Green Apple Environment Award for demonstrating how business growth can be achieved alongside reductions in carbon emissions.

The company's entry, ‘Growing Greener: Decoupling Business Growth from Carbon', was recognised in the Service Industries category for Environmental Improvement. The award was selected from more than 700 entries worldwide and will be presented at the House of Lords on November 23.

Peartree reported a 6.3 per cent reduction in total carbon emissions during its 2024/25 financial year, while revenue increased by 7.9 per cent. Emissions per £1 million of turnover fell by 13.2 per cent, while emissions per full-time equivalent employee decreased by 9.9 per cent.

Scope 3 emissions, which the company says account for more than 97 per cent of its total carbon footprint, fell by 6.7 per cent.

The company attributed the progress to closer supplier engagement, site-level environmental monitoring and measures to reduce waste, plastics and emissions across its operations and supply chain.

Peartree has also retained its EcoVadis Gold rating and secured Neutral Carbon Zone Gold Certification. Its emissions reduction targets have been approved by the Science Based Targets initiative and are aligned with limiting global warming to 1.5°C.

ESG manager Georgie Hull said: "This award is an important recognition of the work taking place across Peartree to embed sustainability into everyday decision-making. Our progress has involved colleagues, clients and suppliers and demonstrates what can be achieved through clear targets, consistent measurement and practical action."
