Sugar-based surfactants from Alpheios

17th of March 2016

Alpheios uses sugar-based surfactants in its ecological Vive and Triple-T cleaning solutions - made from glucose.

Glucose acts as the hydrophilic (water-attracting) part of the surfactant. The hydrophobic (oil-attracting) part of the surfactant is made from aldehydes. In the non-ionic surfactants used in our products the aldehydes could be obtained from renewable raw materials such as vegetable oils and starch.

The next step for Alpheios is to investigate algae as a possible precursor to produce surfactants.
