Interclean Amsterdam event focuses on empowering women in the industry
1st of April 2024Interclean Amsterdam next month will be the venue for an international event dedicated to women in the cleaning industry. Female Leaders in Cleaning is being organised by Martine Mallee from the Netherlands and will take place on the morning of May 15 at RAI Amsterdam.
"By promoting diversity within companies, we not only attract and retain top talent, but also increase the success of businesses. This aligns with the United Nations' sustainability goals, making it crucial for companies to embrace diversity," said Mallee.
"To spread this message, we have assembled a powerhouse of successful female leaders in the industry and I am proud to take part of this. Our goal is to raise awareness about the importance of diversity and inspire others to create similar groups in their own countries," added Shybon George, director of Resolve Cleaning in South Africa.
"Each country faces unique challenges when it comes to diversity and inclusivity, but by coming together, we can learn from each other's experiences, share guidance, and offer support."
"In addition to promoting diversity, we also want to challenge companies to take responsibility for their social impact" says Helge Alt from Puhastusekspert OÜ in Estonia and member of the event committee.
"By having someone dedicated to addressing issues related to diversity and inclusivity in the workplace, we can make a significant difference. This person would ensure that all employees are treated fairly, with equal pay and opportunities for growth."
"Female voices will take the stage to empower and inspire other women in the industry. Talks will focus on female leadership and the unique challenges faced by women in the cleaning industry," explained Esther van der Lelie, co-organiser of the meeting.
"The event aims to not only inspire, but also foster a sense of solidarity among women in the industry. It will be an opportunity to share experiences and learn from one another."
Taking part on May 15 are: Lara Paemen (IFMA EMEA), Sarika Saluja (World Toilet Organisation), Helge Alt (Puhastusekspert OÜ), Grazia Polidori (Sofidel), Shybon George (Resolve Cleaning), Pamini Hemaprapha (Emaar Hospitality Group) and Michelle Marshall (ECJ).
