Could clip-on bidet spell the end of the toilet roll?
4th of November 2015A female entrepreneur from Montreal, Canada has come up with a mini bidet-like device that she claims can be clipped on to any standard toilet.
Miki Agrawal believes that her compact invention - named the Tushy - could sound the death knell for conventional toilet paper.
The device is designed to fit on to the left side of any standard two-piece and some one-piece toilets. It uses the water supply that comes from the toilet tank and requires no electrics since it is pressure-operated.
According to Agrawal, a Tushy can be installed in just 10 minutes without the need for a plumber. Besides the classic cold-water model, the device also comes in a warm water version which is equipped with a pressure control and temperature dial. This more expensive model uses a warm water supply channelled to the Tushy via a hose from the bathroom sink.
Agrawal claims the Tushy is more hygienic than toilet paper and is sustainable, too, since only a pint of water is required for each use. Worldwide sales are carried out via the company's website and Tushy donates a proportion of money from each sale to organisations that support sanitation in the developing world.
