Cleaning machine specialist Tennant Company has signed an exclusive agreement with autonomous technology company Brain Corp. The aim is to accelerate the development and adoption of the next generation of robots in the floor cleaning industry.

The two companies anticipate Tennant's purpose-built robotic equipment driven by Brain Corp's next-generation and AI-enabled autonomous navigation technology will improve the customer return on investment and enable more customers to invest in robotic cleaning.

Tennant and Brain Corp already have a longstanding partnership which has resulted in the launch of a number of autonomous cleaning machines. "We are excited to expand our existing partnership to dramatically accelerate the transition to robotic cleaning and drive adoption in new segments of our markets," said Tennant Company president and CEO Dave Huml.

"By combining cleaning intelligence and automation, we are poised to lead the disruption that AI-enabled robotic technology will bring to our industry."In the second quarter of 2024, Tennant will launch the new X4 ROVR, the company's first purpose-built Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR). Specifically designed for operation in smaller spaces, it is driven by Brain Corp's next-generation navigation software and hardware suite which will be available exclusively on Tennant machines for floorcare applications.

As part of this new agreement Tennant has invested $32 million in Brain Corp.
