IPC president – “Industry must adapt to changing market”

The effects of economic uncertainty are being felt across the globe and the cleaning industry must face the fact that the market is undergoing permanent change. That's according to president and managing director of IPC Gianfranco Cianci.

"It is vital that we innovate, that we become more flexible in our approach to business," he told ECJ. "The most important thing we must do is manage change - both day-to-day and in the longer term."

After facing a number of years of economic uncertainly following the crisis of 2008 the industry has started to recover, Cianci believes, however he says the market is still very unsettled on a global level and will remain so for the next few years. "Even the emerging countries such as Brazil and China are not growing as much as they were," he said.

The group, which is headquartered in Italy and offers a comprehensive line of cleaning solutions through its member companies, has enjoyed healthy growth over the past two years Cianci explained. However he has his sights very much set on the future and firmly believes a new strategy is needed in order to maintain that growth.

"We are trying to identify new directions - new ways of enlarging our core business without losing focus and new ways of approaching the market. I believe we must achieve our results in a more creative way, by adopting new ways of thinking and reacting directly to the needs of our customers.
