ECMR presents sustainability awards
13th of May 2015Cleaning machine recycling company ECMR (European Cleaning Machines Recycling), which collects 'end of lifetime' cleaning machines from manufacturers and distributors across Europe to dismantle them and recycle the parts, presented its 2014 Sustainability Awards recently.
Companies working with ECMR to reduce the environmental burden of landfill receive an official ECMR sustainability certificate demonstrating the waste from each cleaning machine is recognised and processed according to the recycling process. The business operates according to Cradle to Cradle principles.
Among the manufacturers Nilfisk gave the highest number of machines for recycling, at 31 per cent of ECMR's total intake. BOMA Benelux was named as the winning distributor, accounting for 14 per cent of total intake.
Luc Bresseleers, ceo of BOMA Benelux commented: "We have supported the project from the start in 2012 and apply it in all of our offices in the Benelux. It is always our goal to do not only 'green thinking' but also, and especially, to 'act green' too.
Willem van den Burg, general manager at Nilfisk Benelux, added: "This award is an appreciation for all our Benelux staff within the organisation and for their relationships with our clients, who are constantly aware of the importance of sustainability."
