Celtex launches food-safe recycled paper products
14th of May 2014Celtex was showing a new line of food safe recycled paper products on its stand. And the company claims it is highly unusual for recycled products to achieve food safe certification.
The Celtex etissue range includes hand towels, centrefeed rolls and kitchen towels. According to export manager Daniele Mamoli the company invested heavily and spent several months developing the technique to achieve such high-grade recycled tissue.
"There is no discernible difference in either thickness or durability between etissue products and virgin paper alternatives," said Mamoli. "The only difference you will notice is that etissue products are a creamy colour rather than pure white."
The reason for the off-white colour is that the company manufactures the etissue line from trimmings from its other paper products along with craft paper and centrefeed cores. "The fact that we are using by-products from our own mill means the production process has a very low environmental impact," adds Mamoli.
He said the fact that all the products have been certified food safe by TUV will be a key selling point for food preparation businesses seeking a recycled product.
"In the case of hand towels and other paper products, this means there will be no problem if they are used in food preparation areas instead of dedicated food wipers."
