UV cabin cleaning technology introduced by Qatar Airways

Qatar Airways has started using UV cleaning technology onboard its aircraft, which it says "has been shown to be capable of inactivating various viruses and bacteria".

So far the airline has purchased six units, with plans to acquire enough for them to be used on all aircraft turnarounds at Doha's Hamad International airport.

The system is around the size of a food trolley and features extendable UV arms that treat seats, surfaces and cabins without the use of cleaning chemicals.

Qatar Airways says it will also continue to disinfect aircraft using products recommended by IATA and the World Heath Organisation, with the UV system being utilised "as an additional step after manual disinfection, to ensure the very highest standards of cleanliness".
