Dussmann Service employs 66 staff with disabilities in Austria

Building services provider Dussmann Service is working in partnership with social services provider autArK Soziale Dienstleistungs at its operation in Austria to bring about the inclusion of people with disabilities into daily working life.

"Everyone wants and is able to make a contribution - even people with disabilities. It is important that every member of staff is employed in the right place according to his or her capabilities", says Sandra Wilding, manager of the Kärnten branch. People with disabilities are employed by the company in various services, such as security, cleaning and catering as well as in the offices.

The autArK association helps Dussmann Service to find suitable employees. Entry into work can be flexible, starting for example with a traineeship or on reduced hours with the possibility of increasing these later. This has enabled Dussmann to increase the number of employees with disabilities year on year - now it is 66 across the country.

People with disabilities often develop a strong bond with the company and show great dedication and commitment. "I am recognised as a fully contributing member of the team, which really pleases me," says Daniela Szegedi, a clerk at the branch office, and adds: "Because of my physical restrictions, flexible working hours are also very beneficial for me."
