Study supports Twister environmental benefits claim |
A study carried out at a Swedish university supports the claims made by HTC Sweden that its Twister floor cleaning method has a lower environmental impact than more traditional floor care systems.
The Twister method consists of a floor pad prepared with billions of microscopic diamonds which clean and polish the floor mechanically. No chemicals or periodic maintenance is needed, just water – says HTC. The study was carried out by the division of Environmental Technology and Management at the Department of Management and Engineering (IEI) at the University of Linköping. Twister was evaluated in a comparison with two other methods – polish and wax.
A life cycle assessment was used to identify and quantify the environmental impact of all three methods from a holistic perspective – including extraction, production, use and disposal of materials. Three categories of impact were determined – human health, ecosystem quality, and resources.
The study concluded that both polish and wax have a greater environmental impact than Twister.
